The relationship between the fate of clomeprop in soil and its phytotoxic activity on the growth of radish (Raphanus sativus) seedlings was investigated in the laboratory. The phytotoxic activity of clomeprop in sea sand was much higher than in non-autoclaved soil, and the phytotoxic activity in non-autoclaved soil was higher than in autoclaved soil. The phytotoxic activity of 2-(2,4-dichloro-3-methylphenoxy)propionic acid (DMPA), a hydrolysed metabolite of clomeprop, was higher than that of the latter under both soil conditions. Clomeprop was adsorbed on soil to a greater extent than DMPA. The concentration of clomeprop in soil water of non-autoclaved soil decreased with increase of the DMPA concentration in the soil water in a time-dependent manner. It is suggested that the phytotoxic activity of clomeprop applied to soil is induced mostly by the DMPA concentration in soil water after hydrolytic degradation by soil microbes. © 1999 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

The frequency of open-pollinated male-sterile seedlings from a male-sterile mother tree in Cryptomeria japonica D. Don was determined in 765 open-pollinated seedlings. Pollen was not formed by 29 out of the 765 seedlings. To find pollen donor candidates for 29 male-sterile seedlings, a male-sterile tree was crossed with five individuals in the neighborhood of the mother tree. Analysis of microspores in male flowers of F1 seedlings revealed that one of the five individuals had a heterozygous male-sterility gene. Paternity tests were conducted on the 29 male-sterile seedlings using eight kinds of CAPS markers in C. japonica. The pollen parents of 29 male-sterile seedlings were not only a tree in the neighborhood of the mother tree, but also other trees. Since it was found that the pollen parents of four of the male-sterile seedlings were not in the study plot, it was inferred that C. japonica trees that possess the male-sterility gene grow in other places and may be widely distributed. 相似文献

The carotenoid β-cryptoxanthin (β-CRX) is abundant in Satsuma mandarins (Citrus unshiu Marc). Several studies have shown a relationship between Satsuma mandarin consumption and a low risk of several diseases, for example, diabetes, gout, and hypertension, suggesting β-CRX involvement in disease prevention. We investigated the effect of β-CRX on mildly obese males. β-CRX administration reduced visceral adipose tissue, body weight, and abdominal circumference. However, the detailed mechanism by which β-CRX mediates these changes remains unknown. To identify this mechanism, we used an obese model mouse (TSOD). Oral β-CRX administration repressed body weight, abdominal adipose tissue weight, and serum lipid concentrations in TSOD; these results are identical to previous human trial results. β-CRX administration significantly repressed adipocyte hypertrophy. Gene expression analysis strongly indicated that β-CRX can alter cytokine secretion and cell proliferation. These results suggest that β-CRX derived from Satsuma mandarins can help prevent obesity by repressing hypertrophy of abdominal adipocytes. 相似文献

To compare and estimate the effects of dietary intake of three kinds of mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus, Grifola frondosa, and Hypsizigus marmoreus), mice were fed a diet containing 10-14% of each mushroom for 4 weeks. Triacylglycerol in the liver and plasma decreased and plasma cholesterol increased in the P. ostreatus-fed group compared with those in the control group. Cholesterol in the liver was lower in the G. frondosa-fed group than in the control group, but no changes were found in the H. marmoreus-fed group. DNA microarray analysis of the liver revealed differences of gene expression patterns among mushrooms. Ctp1a and Fabp families were upregulated in the P. ostreatus-fed group, which were considered to promote lipid transport and β-oxidation. In the G. frondosa-fed group, not only the gene involved in signal transduction of innate immunity via TLR3 and interferon but also virus resistance genes, such as Mx1, Rsad2, and Oas1, were upregulated. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: We have cloned a cDNA encoding the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) from oyster Crassostrea gigas . The clone contains a 1797 bp open reading frame encoding a protein of 599 amino acids. Oyster MMP (Cg-MMP) has a transmembrane domain at its C-terminal and a furin/prohormone convertase cleavage site at the end of a propeptide domain, which are commonly observed in membrane-type MMPs (MT-MMPs). This suggests that Cg-MMP is an MT-MMP. The deduced amino acid sequence of oyster MMP shares approximately 30% identity with human MT4-MMP and MMPs from fruit fly and hydra. Cg-MMP mRNA was detected in the gill, mantle and adductor muscle, and more intense signals in the northern blot analysis were recognized in the gill and adductor muscle. Similar tissue distribution was observed for tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase (Cg-TIMP) in oyster. In response to hypoxic stress, the abundance of Cg-MMP mRNA was elevated in the gill, while that of Cg-TIMP mRNA remained almost constant. These findings suggest that promotion of collagen metabolism may be implicated in the hypoxic adaptation in oyster. 相似文献

Japan was investigated, using multiple logistic regression analysis and data from 299,555 dogs insured between
April 2010 and March 2011. The overall annual prevalence of cardiovascular disorder diagnosis was 2.1%. Using
the Miniature Dachshund as the reference breed, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel had the highest odds of
cardiovascular disorder with a ratio of 16.2 (95% confidence interval: 14.4–18.2), followed by Maltese,
Pomeranian, Chihuahua and Shih Tzu. Male dogs had increased odds of 1.2 (1.1–1.3). The dogs had increased odds

Abstract The main objective of this study was to increase the productivity of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr. cv. Enrei] seed by deep placement of controlled release nitrogen fertilizers and by the application of different methods of inoculation of bradyrhizobia. Ten days old seedlings in an inoculated paper pot (IPP), in a non-inoculated paper pot (NIPP), and those grown in a vermiculite bed without paper pot (DT) were transplanted to an upland field converted from a drained paddy field in Nagaoka. In addition to the basal application of 16 kg N ha?1 in the surface layer (Control), deep placement of 100 kg N ha?1 of urea (Urea), 100-day type coated urea (CU-100), and calcium cyanamide (CaCN2) treatments were applied at the depth of 20 cm. In the IPP method, a significantly higher seed yield was obtained with the deep placement of CaCN2 and CU-100 compared with the Urea and Control treatments. A similar tendency was observed for the DT and NIPP methods. Among the same N fertilizer treatments, the seed yield for IPP and DT tended to exceed that for NIPP, although the NIPP roots also showed nodulation probably due to infection with indigenous bradyrhizobia. The percentage of nitrogen derived from atmospheric N2 estimated by the simple relative ureide method was higher in the plants with CU-100 and CaCN2 compared with those with the Urea and Control treatments at the RI stage, suggesting that the basal deep placement of CaCN2 or CU-100 for soybean cultivation enabled the supply of N without concomitant depression of N2 fixation. Thus the deep placement of cheaper CaCN2 was found to be as effective as that of CU-100 for enhancing the soybean seed yield. 相似文献

Mycobacteria isolated from epizootics of farmed fishes in western Japan were examined for the first time using multigenotypic analysis. By analysis of the sequences of the internal transcribed spacer between the 16S and 23S rRNA genes (ITS) region and the partial 16S rRNA, hsp65 and rpoB genes, M. pseudoshottsii was identified as the causative agent in these infections. Prior to this study, only M. marinum has been known as the causative agent of lethal mycobacterial disease in marine fishes in Japan. 相似文献
